Coronavirus Update 3 16th March 2020

Dear parents and carers

Thank you all for your support and understanding already this week with changes we have had to make, or have felt it sensible to make. By working together, in line with advice from the government and HPE England we can be confident we are all working together and doing all we can.

Absences from school

Thank you for keeping us informed via the absence line. Please make it clear if your child is off because they are unwell or if you are self isolating them in line with the guidance. If self isolation is the reason, we need to know what symptoms have led you to this decision. These reasons are recorded differently for legal purposes.

Please remember if you are self isolating for 7 days in line with government and HPE guidance, then this is self isolation at home, with no visitors and not leaving the house at all during this time.

Keeping your child off because you are worried about the coronavirus is not an accepted reason for absence, although we fully appreciate that there may be some worry or anxiety in parents and families. Please be honest in your reasons, as we want to be able to track the absences and reasons for absence so we can share these as part of the wider picture if requested.

Hoots

Just a reminder that if your child attends Hoots you have to drop/collect at the door. We have also told Hoots they need to use the halls only in this period and not other areas of the school, and Hoots are encouraging regular hand washing.

Use of school toilets

As a precautionary measure, we will not be allowing parents/families to come in and use the school toilets, so please do ensure you take your child, or you use the toilet, before coming to school.

Handwashing

We have asked all children to wash their hands before coming to school, but on checking with them some had not. Please can ALL parents/carers make sure the children wash their hands before coming to school and on returning home.

Drop off

If you need to pass messages on the door, please note we are not allowing parents over the door threshold. There will be staff to take messages as usual, but please stay the other side of the threshold tp pass your message on.

Please note that during this period, parents/carers should not come and wait in the foyer outside either office please.

Thank you for your continuing support and understanding . We continue to work within government and HPE guidelines and maintain all sensible precautions as the safety and well being of our children and staff is of great importance to us.
