On Friday 30th June, 10 children from year 1 took part in an athletics festival at Taverham High School. The children rotated around eight different stations run by the Hellesdon High School sports leaders, who covered a range of athletics skills. The children learnt how to throw javelins, run relays, do a standing long jump, beanbag balances, use quick feet with ladders amongst so many others!
The children thoroughly enjoyed the event and many chose the javelin throwing as their favourite part. All of the children who took part received certificates and one child received a special certificate for showing great determination in every event. One of the children described it as ‘so much fun!” and all of the children agreed that they wanted to try athletics again.
