Proposed Specialist Resource Base for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs to open September 2025
Monday 8th January
Please see below a letter from Norfolk County Council about a proposal to build a Specialist Resource Base (SRB) for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
We know that there are not enough spaces to support children with these needs county wide or locally, and we feel a sense of responsibility and duty of care towards all children to help meet their needs where we can so they can have a successful school experience. This proposal would enable us to support even more children effectively within a specialist setting on our site that is tailored to meet their needs.
The SRB would be built and paid for by Norfolk County Council and support 8 children of Infant age and 8 children of Junior age, and would be due to open in September 2025. They would also fund the running of it, so it does not affect the main federation budget or the provision for our children. It would be a self contained building, with its own facilities. We would recruit staff for it and run it alongside the schools, which means we will be able to use the expertise of those working within it for children in our schools also, which is of huge benefit to all of our staff and children. Those staff can also then support other schools to meet SEMH needs in their own schools.
Please do complete the response online if possible, it goes live on Monday 8th January. If you have any questions you can come to the consultation event as set out on the attached letter or catch me on the gate one morning or on the playground one afternoon.
