Welcome to the website of the Toftwood Infant and Junior School Federation.

We hope you will find the information on our website useful when choosing a school for your child, looking for information because your child attends our school or if you are just looking!

All of our plans in relation to operating safely and COVID routines are on the Covid routines and systems for parents/carers button, which can be found above. Please do check these and ask if you have any questions. They should give you all the information you need to know.

We are pleased to have been able to provide a full taught curriculum online in the January to March lockdown. All of our teachers provided live lessons daily, and the engagement with the children was a key part of our decision to do this. The teachers delivered the lessons in the same way as they would in class and the opportunity for interactions with our children was invaluable. We also ran online intervention sessions for groups of children and provided resources to support others where required. This has meant our children have continued their learning throughout the lockdown and been supported by their own teachers and TAs to do so, which has given them great social and emotional support as well as educational support.

In future, if there is a complete bubble closure, we will deliver live lessons via Teams again. If your child's bubble does close and you need to borrow a device to access these lessons, you just need to let us know. Additionally, if your child has a COVID related absence and the bubble is open and you need to borrow a device for them to learn at home if they are well, please ask and we can provide this also.

We also have a twitter feed which is @ToftwoodFedera1 and we share information for parents and carers on here on a regular basis. Please do sign up to it so you don't miss out.

We work as one school community from ages 4-11, using the skills and expertise of all of our staff for the benefit of the children and families in our federation. We are a three form entry school, so there are lots of opportunities to have many exciting and engaging experiences for the children. Please do look at our website to see a flavour of what we can offer your child and family, or contact us if you have any questions at all.

Please do check in regularly as we are now back to a full programme of sporting events and competitions, visitors for the curriculum, special events and more. We also share the learning in our lessons on the website and with our families via dojo and tapestry.

If you would like to book a tour of the school if you are considering us a placement for your child, please do contact either school office and we will arrange this with you. Please note we will have COVID procedures in place for everyone's safety, but we would still give you a very warm welcome.

With very best wishes

Online Learning Parental Feedback 2021

Just to say 'Thank You' to everyone at both sites for all your hard work during this uncertain time. I can only imagine how stressful it is for the teachers learning online and supporting a classroom in school too. My children are happy to be in school even in these strange times and it's down to the support and care of their teachers and other staff. I have organised with Tesco a 'Welfare Box' for both sites addressed to the children’s teachers. The boxes can be shared with staff and I hope it brings some cheer during these difficult times. I feel you all deserve it.

Let's hope this madness ends soon and we can get back to some normality.

Reception

I would like to thank you and the all the other teachers that are organising all of the home learning. I think you are all doing a fantastic job, it must take quite a lot of organising. My child is really enjoying the home learning via teams, they are really missing going to school and seeing their friends so this is a great way to still see everyone.

Year 1

Thank you very much for today’s lessons. My child really enjoyed everything and was excited when I was telling them what was next on the timetable throughout the day. It’s taken a big pressure off knowing what we’re meant to be teaching them and lovely to be able to be given tasks with clear direction for them to do after the live lesson. They are looking forward to tomorrow’s lessons and were so proud for being able to show me what they were learning. Thank you again for making it so interesting and just the right amount of work for them to get stuck into.

Year 2

And just wanted to say thank you for today! My child really enjoyed it...it’s not easy for us at home but it’s even harder for you guys trying to teach this way - it’s new to all of us!! Well done everyone.

Year 3

Please could you pass on my many thanks for the lessons today, they have done a fab job. I know it wasn't easy and really helped the children understand today. My child enjoyed the lessons.

Year 4

Just a thank you! My child is really enthusiastic about the work they have been doing and are really enjoying it. They have really been very down and worried about the virus and hearing more cases etc. but the home schooling support makes it all seem a bit more normal and not so lonely.

Year 5

Thanks again for soldiering on through the current situation and please know you have our full support.

Year 6

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you to you for an amazing day of home learning. I thought that the live lessons were fantastic and worked very well. I can only imagine how much extra work this is for you all - I am truly grateful for everything you are all doing for the children. Take care.

Whole School

So proud to be a part of this amazing school! Huge thanks to our staff and well done to the children who are absolute stars.

Reception

Our child recently had to isolate as part of their bubble, and we just wanted to make you aware of how impressed we were at the quality of home learning provided.

Year 1

Thanks for today, my child enjoyed it and said they felt like they had been at school.

 Year 2

Just wanted to say thank you for soldiering on and being there for my child in these difficult times. They were really looking forward to going back. Please know that you have our full support.

Year 3

The class teachers have done AMAZING!! They have overcome technical issues, with Wi-Fi, and they literally have the patience of saints! They've had to learn using teams in a new way and not just teaching to a class of pupils but then teaching all the parents at the same time (with technical help, depending on if they are on a tablet or PC, and where they need to click to find what assignments) coupled with parents like me offering help and advice at the same time! (Which probably isn't always helpful)

Anyway, teachers get a tough time, so I just wanted to take the time to say thank you and congratulate you and your team for doing an amazing job despite everything that continues to challenge them!!

Year 4

A big thank you for all your hard work, I'm finding my child loves home learning this time due to being involved as a class and to be able to see your face and hear your voice helps them a lot and it's lovely to be able to see all their little friends.

Year 5

My child is loving watching their Dojos increase each day still like in school. Thank you for everything and allowing them to still have an education during this time. As well as a family and life of your own, you still take the time to help them progress.

Year 6

I’m so pleased with how well my child is getting on. Thank you as always for everything you do and are doing above and beyond in these difficult times, it must be so hard! We really appreciate all your hard work!

Whole School

What a great first week of online learning! It has actually been really nice to be a "fly on the wall" and experience what the children do on a daily basis! Congratulations to all the staff, parents and pupils that have worked really hard together to make this work.

Reception

They thoroughly enjoyed the home learning activities and we really appreciate the effort that went in to organising and planning this at such short notice. We felt that the tasks were pitched perfectly and actively engaged the children which is a challenge when working remotely! We particularly appreciate the time taken to provide additional phonics activities.

Year 4

The lessons were great thank you so much. My child was much keener to do the work knowing their teachers were asking them to do it rather than just me! We will look forward to Monday. I really appreciate that it's not easy so thanks again.

Year 6

Great work over the last couple of weeks. Starting off not knowing how this was going to work and by the end teachers and children were whizzing through. My child for one has come a long way these last two weeks and it’s really nice as parents to see the growth in them. Thank you for your continued hard work, we appreciate it.

Whole School

Thank you to all the staff that have delivered lessons and helped in the background to provide fantastic live lessons - who would have thought it a year ago. We are so incredibly thankful. What a fantastic school!

Reception

In what we are sure is a very challenging time for you all, we just wanted to express our thanks and gratitude.

Year 6

Thank you... I think it worked pretty well I was trying to flit between the 2 children. I think Toftwood has remote learning spot on!

Thanks for the great work on the live lessons this morning I think it’s fabulous!

Whole School

Please pass on a big thank you to all the staff from us. You are all doing a tremendous job, the online lessons and support have been brilliant. It must be such a mammoth task to organise.
